While the recent civic election saw a number of committee assignments change hands for the coming term, there are no changes coming to the top of the two standing committees at North Battleford City Hall.

Habitat for Humanity is coming to the Battlefords. The directors of My First Home Inc. have signed the agreement to operate Habitat Battlefords, under contract with Habitat Saskatoon. My First Home Inc.

SaskPower has again announced its Block Heater Timer Giveaway, which will take place Nov. 17-18 and Nov. 24-25. In its second year, SaskPower explains that the giveaway is "to thank customers for the continued efforts to conserve energy.

Local cheerleaders will be "Cheering for a Cause" on the weekend, at an event organized in the wake of the tragic suicide of BC teenager Amanda Todd. Todd was just 15 when she took her life.

Messages reminding Canadians to drive sober are a familiar and necessary feature of the holiday season. Impairment behind the wheel is most often associated with alcohol - the classic "Don't drink and drive.

Unity RCMP responded to areport of an armed suicidal man in the early morning hours of Nov. 8. Unity members located the man in a rural area north of the town of Wilkie. The 25-year-old male was found to be intoxicated and armed with a loaded rifle.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, a number of Waseca and area residents took advantage of Garon Coach Lines series of pre-Christmas trips to Edmonton. Arlee Lumgair, Sandra Sutherland, Bev Hult and Shirley James boarded the coach at Waseca.

Staff and students paid their respects to the soldiers who participated and continue to participate in military action throughout the world, Nov. 8. This year the flag bearers who escorted Legion members into the gym were Donald and Morgan Miriam.

The Royal Canadian Legion Speers-Hafford Branch No. 116 held a Remembrance Day service at the Hafford Communiplex, Nov. 11. More than 100 people attended. Rolland Pelletier marched in the colours and recited the Act of Remembrance To Our Heroic Dead.

Several members of the Battlefords Art Club used their artistic abilities to paint on the large mural the club is creating for the City of North Battleford's 100th anniversary celebrations in 2013.
