HUMBLOLDT — A confirmed case of COVID-19 has been identified in Humboldt. Rob Muench, the city’s mayor, said he received an email from the individual.

When a municipality issues an emergency order and there’s a discrepancy between that and a provincial emergency order, the province’s orders take precedence.

The province has confirmed eight new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 52. The new data was released March 22. Central Saskatchewan, excluding Saskatoon, has four cases, the same as yesterday.

Traditionally, the season of Lent has been a time of self examination. Through a period of looking inward the intention is to identify one’s sins and go through a process of repentance and renewal.

HUMBOLDT — Two vital Humboldt organizations that help the less fortunate have yet to see an increase of services due to COVID-19, however they are not facing the potential increase unprepared.

CARROT RIVER — A byelection to elect a new mayor in Carrot River has been postponed in light of the public risk COVID-19 poses.

Sarcan is closing all of its recycling facilities across the province for an indefinite period of time in response to the pandemic. Its facilities can be found in Humboldt, Tisdale, Melfort, Nipawin, Porcupine Plain, Naicam, Watson and Lanigan.

EAST CENTRAL — A local MP is self-isolating after learning a person he met with has COVID-19. Randy Hoback, the MP for Prince Albert, met with David Beasley, the executive director of the World Food Programme, on March 11.

Seventeen new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Saskatchewan, bringing the total to 44. Twenty-five of those are confirmed and 19 presumptive. Yesterday, March 20, the number was 26.
