Nicole Burns has been living with HIV and Hepatitis C since June 19, 2009. Her test results were the hardest things she had ever had to hear, but she has been able to overcome her diagnosis and has started speaking out about her story.

The Battlefords Horticultural Society held their annual show Aug. 14 to 16 at the Agriplex during the Battlefords Agricultural Society Territorial Days in conjunction with other domestic exhibits.

Waseca Quilting Ladies began the season's quilting Sept. 6. It was decided to meet on Fridays this year because that day was more suitable for the small group. We will be meeting on the first and third Fridays of the month.

Elections and art shows were the topics of Tuesday's Battlefords Art Club meeting. A good number of members met for our usual session. It was good to welcome back some vacationing members. Planning began for our fall show, Sparkle with Art.

Summer is over and it is time to get back into routine. There is news to be reported and school buses to drive as well as other jobs that need to be done. We will start with the winners of the July trip of the month daw.

While the agricultural community eagerly anticipates the harvest of 2013, 20 members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild met in the Don Ross Craft Room Sept. 6 to share the "fruits" of their summer season.

Hi there! It's hard to believe our summer is nearly over and here it is September again. We have had some lovely warm days especially in August.

Where has summer gone? September has come and it seems as if there has been no summer. The weather is really beautiful and harvest is well on its way. We just hope it can all be gathered in.

Canadian Legion of Riders, North Battleford is hosting a Veterans Day Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 70 parking lot. A $10 pledge buys breakfast in the morning and a burger later on.
