Don't be sucked in by a sad story and promises of great riches. That bit of sage advice is being offered up by Battlefords RCMP this week in the wake of several reports of a fraud scheme making its rounds in the community.

North Battleford Police Dog Services unit assisted Nipawin and Smeaton RCMP with a search for a 38-year-old Prince Albert Woman on the weekend. The woman was located at about 2:20 p.m. Monday after being missing in the bush since Thursday, Sept. 5.

Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve (RLBR) recently hosted a delegation from Japan. Nobuhiko Wakamatsu, Ryo Sakurai and Akiko Sakai spent a week learning about the similarities and differences between the RLBR and the biosphere reserve in Japan.

It was a case of sink or swim at the August 28 committee meeting of the Department of Community and Leisure Services in Humboldt. A delegation made up of 10 women and two men brought a petition with 353 signatures to the meeting.

It may have been an almost record-setting in its brevity, but there was some serious news emerging from Tuesday's town council meeting. The agenda of the meeting was one of the thinnest on record, and council went through it in a few minutes.
