The weather was perfect Monday night and the pitching for the Battleford Bantam Bandits wasn't far off.

Horseshoe Saskatchewan and the Battleford Horseshoe Club are hoping for good weather as they prepare to host the 2013 Western Canada Classic Horseshoe Tournament in North Battleford June 29th and 30th.

Mother Nature has frowned upon the Muenster Red Sox so far this season. The combination of a late spring and recent rainy weather has left Red Sox manager Garret Korte scrambling to make up five games that had to be cancelled.

The new Battlefords Co-op Aquatic Centre has been busy since it opened, like Monday morning when 37 people came out for a swimming lesson.

The best of the best in high school athletics were celebrated at Humboldt Collegiate Institute's athletics banquet on June 11. It was the school's first all-sports banquet; in previous years, individual teams had held their own celebrations.

After skipping a week because of the weather, the New Horizons were back at it on Monday with 36 players. The delay did not help the scores much as there wasn't a par in the nine groups that played.

Monday night on the Battleford flats was a battle between the two midget teams in the Battleford Ladies' Fastball League, and it didn't disappoint. The Unity Midgets squared off against the Battleford Midget Bandits in a thriller.

A rainy weekend didn't stop golfers at the Ladies' NW Open golf tournament at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club. The sloppy weather merely resulted in a delay.

Mikaela York led the North Battleford Legion Track Club by winning two gold medals at the 2013 Saskatchewan Athletics Provincial Track and Field Championships held in Regina June 15 and 16.

Larry James English, of Medicine Hat, Alta., will be inducted into the individual category of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, as a player/builder August 17. English was born Sept. 14, 1948 in Gull Lake.
