"College athletes make large sums of money for their schools and don't see anything for it.

Time sure flies. Six of the 12 North Saskatchewan River Baseball League teams completed the first half of their schedule after Wednesday night. The rest will soon follow.

The Unity Midget Panthers have cruised through the Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League season to this point and have lost just twice. Those two losses have both come at the hands of the Northwest Vipers.

It was a game of a lifetime for four Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) athletes. Josh Giddings, Drayke Unger, Tyrell Hering and Dillon Buckle all attended the Ed Henick Senior Bowl in May in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan Hockey Association, along with Hockey Manitoba announced the coaches and camp invitees for the Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Both provincial hockey organizations had 34 players invited to camp, which will be held Aug. 9 to 13 in Wilcox.

The diamonds were dried enough from the weekend and senior baseball action resumed Tuesday. In North Battleford, the Beavers took a 5-1 lead into the seventh inning.

The baseball, slo-pitch and fastball diamonds in the Battlefords and area weren't all completely dry and ready for use Monday night after the more than three inches of rain on the weekend.
