Those at Frontier Mall on Saturday got to see an armful of arm-wrestling action. The Saskatchewan Arm Wrestling Association held its Annual Fit II Fight Arm Wrestling Circuit Tournament.

After the fifth round of spring curling for the New Horizons, Allan Rogers remains the only team without a loss. Bernie Meisner, John Chomyn and Bill Thom are his mates for the season.

The Battlefords North Stars' weekend included an epic comeback, two come-from-behind shootout wins, $3,400 raised in the Shootout Showdown auction and 1,553 fans on hand to watch the action Saturday night.

It was an offensive explosion for the Battlefords Midget Stars on their weekend road trip to Yorkton. The Stars scored 14 goals earning an 8-0 win and a 7-6 shootout loss.

Although they were not able to earn the top spot at the Masters Men's Curling in Region 14, the local rink of Wally O'Hare, Bryan Peever, Doug Puff and Allan Rogers will be moving on.

"There were a lot of people that went away from our weekend saying 'wow'," said Battlefords Skating Club president Krista Crockett of the STARSkate Competition that was held at the Civic Centre on the weekend.

Jacy Akre needed to face just nine more shots to set the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League record when she faced the Saskatoon Stars.

Four games remain in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League and all but two teams know where they will be in the standings, while one playoff matchup is set. The Battleford Beaver Blues clinched first place with a 4-2 win in Cut Knife Tuesday.

Rome may not have been built in a day, but local ice technician Wayne Cubbon and a crew came close, as they were able to finish eight houses in five days while in Austria.

There will be no all-star game or skills competition for the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League's all-stars, all they will get is the recognition from their teammates and opponents as the season winds down.
