If there was ever any doubt about the popularity of curling in Saskatchewan, attendance at the Humboldt Curling Club for the SaskPower Scotties Provincial Tournament of Hearts put that rumour to rest once and for all.

The Credit Union Cup is no more. Just like that there will be no Credit Union Cup, as last week the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League announced a new 10-year partnership with Canalta Hotels.

More fans are showing up at the local rinks, as provincials continue and teams either move forward in the bracket or are eliminated. The most exciting part of the local hockey season is heating up.

Victory was sweet for the Englot rink in their final match against the Lawton rink, January 29 at the SaskPower Scotties Provincial Tournament of Hearts women's provincial curling championships in Humboldt.

A new streak has begun. The Humboldt Broncos started off another win-streak by recording two over the Flin Flon Bombers on a northern road trip last weekend.

Three teams battled for two spots during the Affinity Credit Union Senior Men's Playdowns on the weekend and one home town team is moving on. The Battleford Curling Club hosted two teams from Unity and a local rink skipped by Rae Morrison.

It's official, the Battlefords Midget Stars will not make the playoffs for the eighth straight season.

After splitting their first two games, it didn't appear the Battlefords North Stars would come back with more than two points from their weekend road trip, as they headed into the final period of their three-game in three-night span.

The forth draw of the New Horizons spring curling season was completed Jan. 24. The Rogers rink is leading after winning all of their games. Close behind are Gordey, Hall and Scott, who all have only one loss.
