The ice is in the rinks around the Northwest and the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League is set to start its second season.

Recently it hasn't seemed to matter who is in net for the Battlefords North Stars or where the offence is coming from, they just continue to win.

November 25Battlefords North Stars host the Notre Dame Hounds in SJHL action. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre. November 25Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League action begins with two games on the schedule. Cut Knife hosts Perdue at 8 p.m.

The 35th season of North Battleford Comprehensive High School Viking football was completed Tuesday night, as the junior and senior teams, their coaches, parents and supporters gathered for the annual awards banquet.

Paradise Hill hosted the 3A girls championship on the weekend, but it was another Northwest team earning a medal and carrying a perfect record into the final.

They faltered a little in Yorkton, but recovered back on home ice. The Humboldt Broncos played the Yorkton Terriers on November 18 in Yorkton, falling to the home team 4-1.

The Senior Boys' 2A Volleyball Regionals was held in Muenster on November 19. Muenster didn't place in the tournament but will be hosting Provincials on November 26.
