Some kids from Muenster spent a weekend in much warmer temperatures than we had here in Saskatchewan.

The curling season is upon us, and with the start of local recreational leagues quickly comes the start of the competitive provincial season. Nov. 11 to 13 the Battlefords Burling Club hosted the 2011-12 Junior Men's Qualifying Spiel.

Days before the North Battleford Comprehensive High School volleyball teams left for provincials, two members of the boys' team explained how they expected the entire weekend to full of meaningful, tough games.

It was a competitive but ultimately frustrating weekend for the Battlefords Midget Stars against the Swift Current Legionnaires.

It was just another week and another four wins for the Battlefords North Stars. Their continued success has led to more personal praise, four players received honourable mentions for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Players of the Week awards.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks scored the first goal of the weekend in their weekend trip to Saskatoon against the Stars, but their wasn't any more offence after that.
