The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons trailed the Swift Current Raiders 4-0 five minutes into the second period, but that wasn't enough to keep them from earning their first regular season win.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings strapped on their pads and helmets for quarter-final playoff action in Saskatoon Wednesday night, as they took on the Bedford Road Redmen.

It's not just hockey players on the ice at the Elgar Petersen Arena (EPA) in Humboldt these days. Members of Skate Humboldt took to the ice for the first official week of lessons and practices on October 17, reported club president Larry Durand.

Soccer regionals took place across the province on the weekend and four schools from the Northwest made it through their regional tournaments and are set for provincials this weekend. John Paul II hosted the 2A boys' and girls' regional draws.

It was a great two weeks of soccer for the Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks senior girls' soccer team. The girls played their first game of the week on October 13 against the Lake Lenore Lancers. They won the game 4-2.

The same day Graham Hildebrand learned he was the goaltender of the week he turned in his third Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League shutout and second at the Civic Centre against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
