Last week wasn't just about turkey. It was about ice. Humboldt's minor hockey teams all took to the ice, for some teams for the first time this season, over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Humboldt Broncos dominated one visiting team, but fell to another in two games in just three nights. The Broncos first faced off against the Kindersley Klippers on October 5.

The Horizon Central Athletics Association Cross Country District championships were held at Lucien Lake Regional Park near Middle Lake on October 6.

Nadia Stevenson is one of the six individuals and one team in the community to be inducted into the Humboldt and District Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Stevenson lived in Humboldt from 1962 to 2004.

Anytime a hockey team fires more than 40 shots on net, they should have a good chance to the win the game. The Battlefords North Stars put 42 shots at Nipawin's Davis Jones, but beat him only twice and fell 4-2 to the Bauer Conference leading Hawks.

It's an unexpected honour. Richard Muench of Muenster is one of the six individuals and one team in the community being inducted into the Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. "I'm happy about it," said Muench of the honour.

In the playoffs, when a first place team scored 426 points in 14 games and their opponents has allowed 341 in 14 games the math doesn't add up for a close game.

A wide margin. That's what the Humboldt Broncos beat the Melfort Mustangs by in their Thanksgiving weekend showdown in Melfort. The Broncos travelled to the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort on October 8, and walked away with a 7-2 win.

The Battlefords Midget Stars remain winless after falling 6-1 to the Saskatoon Blazers Friday. The Blazer's used a power play goal in the first period, three goals in the second and two in the third to earn the victory.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings looked to get back in the win column against Prince Albert Carlton, but that wasn't the case Friday.
