It was a sad week for Humboldt Broncos fans. It all started with a game against the Flin Flon Bombers on October 18 at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

Penalties, execution errors and missed opportunities added up last Saturday as the Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks faced the Clavet Cougars for the third time this season in nine-man football action.

The Huskies are back-to-back North Battleford Men's Touch Football League champions. The Huskies were first throughout the regular season with just one loss and they continued their winning ways Sunday taking the final 15-6 over the Gophers.

Saturday and Sunday the Battlefords AAA Sharks had a rematch with Notre Dame, who they played in the first round of playoffs the last two seasons. Revenge would've been sweet, but that wasn't the case.

Statement made. The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings ended their regular season Thursday in Saskatoon against Mount Royal and did so in convincing fashion.

Goaltender Graham Hildebrand came within .4 seconds of making it a perfect weekend for the Battlefords North Stars. That was how far away Hildebrand was from a shutout Friday night against the Nipawin Hawks.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League released its list of players of the week and there was no shortage of Battlefords North Stars.

The Battlefords Bantam Sharks opened their season with two wins on the weekend. Friday, the Sharks hosted Viking, Alta. Danae Bugler was sharp in net as the Sharks came away with a 1-0 victory.

Two will become one. That is the case for the two curling clubs in the Battlefords, the North Battleford Granite Curling Club and Battleford Community Co-operative Curling Club, that will dissolve into one new entity.

The Northwest section of the province was represented by three school divisions, 14 schools and 51 students at the provincial cross-country meet in Middle Lake and it was Borden of the Central Valley division turning in the best results.
