The Under 8 Yorkton United Boys soccer team travelled to Regina with 2 separate teams, Yorkton Real and Yorkton Atletico, for the annual Summerfest tournament July 8 – 10, which, for most of the boys’, was their first soccer tournament.

The Yorkton United FC Under 18 Men’s team traveled to Lloydminster July 1-3 to contest the Provincial championships and came away as Under 18 Provincial champions.

Scott Weinheimer and Mike Brown, both of Yorkton, recently competed at the Special Olympics Saskatchewan in golf. The Nipawin golf tournament was held June 18.

The Saskatchewan Twilite Baseball Championships (for players age 35, and older), was hosted at diamonds in Yorkton and Melville over the weekend. The event attracted 27 teams from across the province.

Sheldon Luciw of Preeceville was recognized by the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association with the Outstanding Official award. The presentation was made during the association’s annual general meeting in Saskatoon on June 24.

Kipp Bayer from the Sturgis Composite High School was presented the Service Award for Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association. He was presented the award at the annual general meeting in Saskatoon on June 24.

Canora Soccer Club members decided to celebrate Father’s Day with a weekend father-child game and barbecue that members hope will become an annual tradition.

Donna Rock began her first season as manager of the Canora Golf and Country Club with the facility opened for the season on April 15.

Don Chesney tried retirement. It didn’t take. Chesney had stepped down as the Yorkton Terriers’ Director of Public Relations and Marketing in March, a position he held for two seasons.
