It is hard to believeSeptember is over and we are already into the month of October. The first month of school seemed to fly by very quickly. We hope the farmers finished their harvests safely and everyone enjoyed the nice weather.

Many volunteers soon had enough wood sawed, split and stacked Oct. 5 to last three years for Curtis and Carol Crabb of Borden. Curtis has had two surgeries and chemo for a brain tumour and just came out of the hospital Oct. 4, after his last surgery.

Unity couple, Jim and Noella Chase, joined a team of support staff for cyclists, including Unity doctor, Linda Bloem, in a mountain cycle trek called Bike for Bibles. This year's theme was "Through our spokes, God speaks".

This season has once again been awesome for the HHS cross-country running team. This fall they have travelled to Unity Sept. 12, Wilkie Sept. 19, Spiritwood Sept. 26 and districts in Meadow Lake Oct. 3. The results are as follows.

The monthly meeting of the Maidstone Museum was held Monday, Sept. 23 with a poor attendance. President Mae Hinde was in the chair and a number of subjects were covered. The North West Museum Association fall meeting will be held Oct.

Friday, Oct. 4, the regular meeting of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild saw 24 quilters in attendance. Twelve of these ladies had come early that morning to attend a class given by Barb Sealy, to learn how to make a "Walker Bag.

Community celebrates 100 years of 4-H

Baljennie Community Centre was the site of the 100th anniversary of 4-H Clubs in Canada on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Close to 130 people signed the guest register over the two day celebrations.

Pie bingos are popular

There was a better than usual turnout for cards on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Maidstone Senior Centre. There was one table of cribbage. He went to Molly Den Ouden, and low went to Laurence Den Ouden.
