On Mother's Day about seven years ago, Lisa Shirley was at her job cutting fruits for a grocery store. A couple of the machines weren't working, so she took on the task of cutting by hand even though they had a high quota to meet.

Qualified voters in North Battleford go to the polls April 16 to elect a representative to council. The three candidates on the ballot are Ron Crush, Kelli Saemann and Thomas Schwab. What follows is information supplied by each candidate.

Six traffic related complaints were among the more than 30 calls for service/occurrences dealt with by Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 and 6 a.m. Thursday, April 10. Wednesday 7:57 a.m.

There were two evenings of advance polls for the 2014 byelection April 8 and 9. In total, 134 people took advantage of voting early. In the last by-election in 2011, 144 voters attended the advance poll. Byelection day is on Wednesday, April 16.

There were just over 20 calls for service placed to Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 9. Among those calls were six traffic related complaints, two false alarms and two false/nuisance 911 calls.

Further details have become known about the victim of the fatal house fire in North Battleford on Friday afternoon. The 36-year-old deceased victim is Isabelle Armstrong of Mosquito First Nation.
