The high-school football season is underway in North Battleford and along with the new rosters and fresh starts to the seasons, there is something else new for 2012.

It isn't complete, but the end is in sight for the Battlefords Tribal Council Field House in the CUPlex. Wednesday, city employees held a user meeting and were overwhelmed by the support from local recreation and leisure groups represented.

It is early in the senior volleyball season, but that doesn't mean the volleyball is already at a high level.

The Lanigan Lazer football team travelled to Broadview for their season opener on September 14. The game was one which would make any defensive coach cringe as both teams scored early and often.

The Rhinos net points this season are 147, as they outscored their opponents 230-83 in their seven games. Most importantly they are undefeated in the North Battleford Touch Football League and sit at 7-0.

The Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks nine-man football team opened up their 2012 Conference One season with a pair of convincing victories over the Clavet Cougars 40-0 and Nipawin Bears 48-6.

The Battlefords Midget Stars continue to prepare for the 2012-13 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season, as they won their second exhibition game in a row Wednesday.

It was a close game between two local high schools. The Lake Lenore senior girls' soccer team won a game 2-0 against Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) on September 13 at Glenn Hall Park.

The Midget Stars pulled out their second straight exhibition win. Wednesday, the Stars won 3-1 on the road against the Beardy's Blackhawks.
