TISDALE — Despite the best efforts of Mother Nature, the races went on at the Tisdale Motor Speedway. A short downpour just before the July 7 races were to start affected the condition of the track, but not enough to cancel the races.

CARROT RIVER — Council – or the two members of council that don’t have a conflict of interest – is asking residents what they think about giving the Carrot River Inn a tax break.

NIPAWIN — Started in 1928, the Nipawin Exhibition is having its 90th anniversary. The exhibition includes a petting zoo, games of chance and rides.

MELFORT — There’s something lurking in the back alley behind Melfort’s Main Street – art. The Northern Lights Gallery in Melfort is having its second annual Back Alley Tour on Thursday, July 19, from 4 to 8 p.m.

ARMLEY — The investigation into the Humboldt Broncos bus crash is complete. Earlier this morning the Saskatchewan RCMP made an arrest and laid charges in relation to the April 6 accident.

RM OF NIPAWIN — The reeve of the RM of Nipawin, Mark Knox, has tendered his resignation. It was effective June 26. “I’m moving to Saskatoon and I feel I couldn’t serve the ratepayers of the RM of Nipawin when I’m in Saskatoon,” he said.

MELFORT — For a lot of players who play junior A, the dream is to receive a scholarship to play post-secondary hockey.

TISDALE — Tisdale streets will be blocked this year as construction workers replace water lines and repave roads. Water line construction likely won’t begin until late August.
