The Preeceville Atoms hockey team hosted a tournament on February 11with four teams entered. Visiting teams were from Hudson Bay, Yorkton and Nipawin.

Now that we have some colder weather, the idea of getting out on the ice to do some ice fishing seems a bit more popular. Every year officers get asked many questions related to ice fishing.

The Sacred Heart High School Saints senior boys’ basketball team traveled to Estevan last weekend to participate in an eight-team tournament. With a 1-2 record, the Saints finished in fourth place at the end of the weekend. On Friday, Feb.

The Tonkin Curling Club held its annual ladies bonspiel from Feb. 9-11. With a total of 10 participating teams, it’s the highest turn out the club has seen in the past few years.

The 2017 Provincial 4-H Curling Championships were held in Yorkton from Feb. 11-12. There were 18 teams split between a senior age bracket and a junior age bracket, with curlers from all over Saskatchewan.

Cheerleading teams from Yorkton traveled to Regina on Feb. 4 to compete in their first cheerleading competition of the season, the Icebreaker Cheerleading Championships.

Young students from Loreburn Central School put their rock-pushing and ice-sweeping skills to the test on Friday, February 3 at the curling rink in Strongfield when the K-6 classes held their annual 'Tin Can Bonspiel'.

The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute junior boys and girls curling teams returned home from the junior district bonspiel in Yorkton on January 27 and 28 with gold and bronze medals.

The Derek Kruk rink of Arran won the A event of the 18-team Arran Annual Open Mixed Bonspiel held January 22 to 29. Curling with Kruk, the skip, were: Kirk Lylyk, lead; Joe Makohoniuk, third, and Vaughn Demetrick, second.
