It’s the perfect time of year for New Year’s resolutions! I’m making some of my own (do better at keeping in touch with my grandparents, manage my money better and exercise more than twice a year).

It was a long haul, but we’ve finally made it to 2017 after the struggles of 2016. For Tisdale, it could be a good year, depending on how all of these rumours of new development shake out. We know for sure there’s going to be a Sobeys liquor store.

The City of Melfort will guarantee a $500,000 loan for the North East SPCA for their new animal shelter. If all goes as planned, the city will not have to pay any of the money.

The City of Melfort is still looking for uses for the Historic Post Office. When they spoke at the Dec. 12 council meeting, the Melfort Legion was concerned that allowing the facility to be rented would hurt rentals at their hall. Coun.

Expenses from last summer’s flooding in Carrot River are climibing Kevin Trew , the town’s administrator, has found that $200,000 has been spent on flood-related expenses. This includes $56,000 recently spent on two new sewer pumps.

Another step has been made towards a new Wellness Centre in Melfort. Council voted to begin the rezoning process on a parcel of land near the Melfort Hospital at its meeting Dec.
