Three candidates now in race for council

Two more candidates have officially come forward in the race for city council in North Battleford and both are familiar names. One is Councillor Don Buglas, who filed his nomination papers late last week.

Seniors got together in Maymont for an afternoon of entertainment and a potluck supper. Seniors from Borden, Radisson and surrounding areas joined the Maymont seniors. The seniors gave great reviews about the entertainment and the food.

The annual Hafford Polka Festival is held the second weekend in July in the Hafford Communiplex. The festival hosts great polka music provided by some well established local and prominent musicians.

School's centennial celebrated

Baljennie Community Centre was packed full, when close to 80 people attended a special event held Aug. 25. Baljennie School was built and opened its door for classes in August 1912. It was time to celebrate the school's 100th year.

Saskatchewan authors visit Hafford

The community of Hafford was honoured to have three established and prominent authors attend the Hafford Summer Sizzle Aug. 18. Larry Warwaruk, retired teacher of Ukrainian descent, addressed an audience of 30 in the Hafford Library Aug. 18.

Unity gal joins U of S softball team

Kelsey Wildeman has always been involved in sport whether it was hockey, badminton, volleyball or track and field, but the softball field was one of her favourite places and in her Unity Minor Ball days she garnered much success.
