NORTHEAST — The Northeast Magic, a U12 girls softball team with players from all over the region, received bronze at provincials.

CARROT RIVER — Bryce Lytle’s journey into the field of firefighting began when he was 19, starting a new job in Vermillion, Alta. The local fire chief, who worked at the same place, saw Lytle, who had just moved from Drumheller, Alta.

MELFORT — Crowds of youth gathered in Melfort for the long-awaited opening of a new skate park. “It gives the youth an opportunity to experience something that we didn’t have before,” said Rick Lang, Melfort’s mayor, at the grand opening on July 24.

NIPAWIN — One figure who made the Nipawin Regional Park what it is today was Henry Andres. “It’s just Henry Andres and he had no middle name. He was born in Saskatchewan and passed away in Saskatchewan,” said Henry’s granddaughter Kelly Andres.

TISDALE — The bill for the RECplex roof replacement has gone up. What was originally a $1.3 million project will go up by almost $57,000 to fix the section of the roof over the Hanover room.

HUDSON BAY — An official Saskatchewan Roughrider block party featuring four players from the team raised around $13,000 for improvements for the Hudson Bay Aquatic Centre. The pool needs a new boiler and needs to be relined.

MELFORT — While it ended up being an imitation firearm that was pointed at an incident at the Melfort Exhibition, one Tisdale-area male is being charged with seven firearm-related offences.
